The Organised Labour, consisting Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has declared an indefinite nationwide strike from Monday, June 3rd following a breakdown in the negotiation over the new minimum wage.
The organised Labour also cited non reversal of the recent hike in electricity tariff as another reason for the decision to embark on the strike.
LinesWatch had earlier reported how that the organised Labour on Friday for the third time walked out of the negotiation table on the floor of the tripartite committee meeting on the new minimum wage, following insistence by the Federal Government and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) on an offer of N60,000 minimum wage.
At a briefing to declare its reaction, leaders of the NLC and the TUC apologised to Nigerians to bear with them for the inconveniences, but stated their “commitment to pursue the cause to its conclusion.”
