Ibadan, May 5, 2025 – Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, involving the reassignment of five commissioners to new ministries, in a move aimed at enhancing governance and administrative efficiency.
The announcement was made public on Monday through a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and detailed in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi.
According to the statement, the reshuffle is with immediate effect, and affects key portfolios across energy, environment, public works, education, and training.
Details of the Reshuffle:
- Seun Ashamu, formerly the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, will now oversee the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
- Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, who previously held the Environment portfolio, moves to head the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.
- Dahud Shangodoyin, the former Commissioner for Public Works, is now reassigned to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
- Solihu Adelabu, formerly in charge of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, will now serve as Commissioner for Establishments and Training.
- Segun Olayiwola, the previous Commissioner for Establishments, takes over the Education, Science and Technology ministry.
Governor Makinde urged the newly reassigned commissioners to approach their new responsibilities with renewed dedication, emphasizing the need for loyalty, performance, and commitment to the administration’s development agenda.
“These changes are part of our ongoing efforts to optimize governance and deliver better service to the people of Oyo State,” the governor stated.
This reshuffle marks another strategic move in the governor’s second-term agenda as he continues to focus on consolidating gains across infrastructure, education, and environmental management in the state.
