Meta is set to lay off about 3,000 employees, starting Monday, February 10, an internal memo has revealed.
The internal memo from the VP of Human Resources, Janelle Gale revealed affected employees will be notified by email on Monday, losing access to company systems within an hour.
The cuts, labelled as “performance terminations,” target low performers, with some roles expected to be refilled.
While employees in Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands are exempt due to local laws, those in other parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa will receive layoff notifications between February 11 and 18.
This follows CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s push to raise performance standards.
Despite the layoffs, Meta plans to accelerate the hiring of machine learning engineers, aligning with its 2025 priorities.
